Abstract

In laboratory medicine meaningful, accurate and precise routine measurements are essential for the diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment and follow-up of patients. Considerable advances in analytical techniques, laboratory instrumentation, information technologies, automation and organization have granted an exceptional degree of analytical quality. Considering laboratory diagnosis as a medical discipline and to support decision making by physicians at the wards, interpretation of laboratory reports is essential.
