Cutaneous – osseous tuberculosis: case report
Abstract
A 2 years 8 month-old girl with a cutaneous – osseous manifestation of tuberculosis is presented. The disease started with a painless red swelling accompanied with ulceration on the inner side of left distal tibia. The appearance of both, inguinal lymphadenopathy and osteomyelitis of the left distal tibia, respectively, occurred 11 months after the disease started. Pathohystologic examination of the skin, lymph nodes and necrotic bone tissue showed granulomatous inflammation. Microbiological culture examination of bone tissue confirmed Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Cutaneous - osseous lesions were successfully treated using multidrug antitubercular chemotherapy over 14 months.
