In Croatia, complementarity and cooperation between the public and private health sectors can play a key role in improving the quality and accessibility of health care, which is especially important in pediatric medicine due to the shortage of pediatricians in the public system and the high workload of pediatricians working in hospital institutions. Using the advantages of both sectors can lead to a reduction in pressure on public institutions, improving the quality of services and providing innovations. At the same time, it is important to ensure social justice so that all citizens have access to health services, regardless of their financial capabilities. Thorough planning and regulation are needed for optimal integration and coexistence of both sectors, to ensure the benefit of the overall health system and the entire society.
